I’m Kyra—the founder and hands behind Coastly.

Coastly began in 2021 on the California coast, though the ritual behind it started long before. For as long as I can remember, writing, reflection, and quiet evenings have been anchored by candlelight.

During the pandemic, I began paying closer attention to what I was actually burning. I learned that many mass-market candles contain harmful ingredients, are poured overseas, and carry names like “Pacific Coast” despite having no true connection to the places they reference. I wanted candles that honored the coast—not borrowed its language. So I began making my own, selling small-batch blends at artisan markets and holiday fairs throughout Sonoma and Napa County.

From the beginning, sustainability shaped Coastly’s foundation. For every candle sold, I donated to Oceana. The coastline, steady, grounding, and life-giving—has always guided this brand, and giving back felt essential. From its origins among dunes and redwoods, Coastly eventually found a home in a small, skylit studio beneath a 150-year-old Norway spruce.

To be coastly is to be softened by nature, grounded by ritual, and connected to the quiet moments that make a home feel alive. It’s a word I coined myself, a feeling as much as a name.
