The Coastly Story
Coastly is an independent literary coastal fragrance house founded in California in 2021 by novelist and poet B. K. Sweeting, now writing as B.K. Napier.
It began with an attachment to the coast and a fascination with fragrance's ability to return us to places we have known, imagined or invented entirely. It grew into a wider fragrance collection shaped by landscapes, seasons and familiar places... from salt air and cedar to orchards, gardens, winter fir and kitchens warmed by spice.
Today, Coastly is an independent family business with roots on both the West and East Coasts. California remains part of where we began and where we're headed; the East Coast has added changing seasons, lakes, forests and colder winters to the landscape in between.
Our candles are made in limited batches with virgin coconut-soy wax, bamboo wicks and carefully selected fragrance, presented in minimalist vessels designed for the home.

Coastly approaches fragrance much like a writer approaches place: through atmosphere, character and memory.
A fictional lakeside town can become an orchard fragrance. An old desk can lead toward leather, cedar and ink. A stretch of open water can become sea salt, sage and juniper.
The result is a fragrance library built from places worth returning to, even when they first existed on paper.
